Southwest Dance Company was created as a way for children to express their creativity through dance with a special focus on elements such as innocence and dream making. This company has always focused on helping our dancers build strong, positive character traits that allow their individual inner light to shine.
Each dancer’s creativity is continuously developed, encouraged, and celebrated. I call this the “divine nature of dance” — combining our God-given talents with our human nature as we create something solely unique to ourselves.
My hope is that our dancers will forever carry with them the attributes of self-worth and confidence they have developed through dancing with us. I hope they will always know that they are capable of creating beauty, love, and light in dance and in life and that they are truly valued by those around them.

Within all of us is the desire to express our thoughts and feelings creatively. For children, dance is a perfect form of expression. There is such freedom and joy when movement is created, discovered and shared. To see delight and accomplishment on a child’s face is the greatest reward.
Here at Southwest Dance Company, our dancers learn to create, explore and challenge themselves through excellent technique. All of this is done within the walls of a safe environment that encourages respect, friendship, modesty, and beautiful movement.
I believe dance is about learning to let go after all the technique has been put into place and enjoy the freedom that comes from individual expression. As our dance concert unfolds this night, we invite you to enjoy a world of artistry and dance.
